David Rawitscher, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Rawitscher has an interest in preventive and diagnostic cardiology. He has practiced in Plano since 1997 and has served as an executive board committee member and was named cardiologist of the year in 2002 and 2003 at the Medical Center of Plano. In 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was named to D Magazine's list of the "Best Doctors in Dallas." In 2008 and 2009 he was named a "Texas Super Doctor" by Texas Monthly. "Texas Super Doctors" are chosen through a poll of doctors and nurses across the state as well as through independent research.

He currently serves as the Director of the Heart Failure Program, Lipid Clinic and Non-invasive Cardiology at the Medical Center of Plano. In his practice, he specializes in consultative and diagnostic cardiology as well as congestive heart failure.

"I am deeply gratified by the substantial positive impact that we have had in the heart failure clinic in improving the quality of patients' lives," he notes.

"My father is a physician who also practices cardiovascular medicine and was the person who inspired me to go on to medical school," Dr. Rawitscher explains. "In fact, one of my proudest times in medical schools was when I delivered the commencement speech at medical school graduation," he says. While at University of Texas Medical School in Houston he served as class president during his fourth year of medicine.

He has separate board certifications in cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, adult echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Medical Association and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society.

He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago where he also went on to receive his fellowship in cardiology and serve as chief fellow of cardiology his final year of fellowship. He received his MD Degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
