PLANO, Texas (Nov. 28, 2007) -- Seven cardiologists from Legacy Heart Center have been recognized by their peers as outstanding practitioners.

Waenard L. Miller, M.D., F.A.C.C., Samuel Woolbert, M.D., F.A.C.C., David Prewitt, M.D., F.A.C.C., David Rawitscher, M.D., F.A.C.C., Marc Shalek, M.D., Sarah Samaan, M.D., F.A.C.C., and Jose Rivera, M.D. F.A.C.C., were named as “Texas Super Doctors” by Texas Monthly in its December issue. In October, Drs. Rawitscher, Shalek and Woolbert were also named “Best Doctors in Dallas” by D Magazine.

Six of the cardiologists—Drs. Miller, Woolbert, Rawitscher, Shalek. Prewitt and Samaan—have been honored by the magazines in previous years as well. Dr. Miller was named as a Texas Super Doctor in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Dr. Woolbert was named as a Texas Super Doctor in 2005 and 2006, and made D Magazine's list of the Best Doctors in Dallas in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Dr. Rawitscher was named to D Magazine's list in 2004 and 2006 while Dr. Shalek was named a Texas Super Doctor in 2005 and 2006 and made D Magazine's list in 2004. Drs. Prewitt and Samaan were named Texas Super Doctors in 2006.

“Our selection by these publications shows that our peers recognize the level of professionalism and high quality care that Legacy Heart Center cardiologists provide to patients,” said Dr. Miller, who is managing partner and a co-founder of the practice.
According to Texas Monthly, its “Texas Super Doctors” are chosen through a poll of doctors and nurses across the state, a blue-ribbon panel review as well as through independent research including a verification of qualifications.

D Magazine chooses its “Best Doctors in Dallas” by mailing a letter to some 4,300 local doctors asking them to visit the magazine’s web site to cast a vote for two physicians they would recommend in 40 different specialties. The final list is reviewed by a panel of local physicians prior to publication.

Legacy Heart Center’s 15 cardiologists and more than 100 other health and administrative professionals provide patients with a comprehensive array of cardiovascular diagnostic testing and treatment services at its facility at 6601 Preston Road in Plano. The cardiology practice has been in operation for more than 20 years, and also treats patients at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano, Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Centennial Medical Center and Medical Center of McKinney.
