Sarah Samaan, MD, FACC has been practicing in Plano since 1995 and has been with Baylor Scott & White Legacy Heart Center since 2002. She serves on the Best Care committee at Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano and is co-chair of the echocardiography laboratory at BSW Legacy Heart Center. Dr. Samaan is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease. She has extensive experience in diagnostic imaging and holds certifications from the National Board of Echocardiography and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and has a special interest in transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Samaan treats the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, including the control of risk factors through a healthy lifestyle and appropriate medical therapy, management of heart valve disorders, and treatment of advanced ischemic heart disease. Her expertise also includes treating pregnant women who suffer from heart murmurs, arrhythmias and high blood pressure during their pregnancies. She is the co-author of a study called Hemodynamic Changes During Normal And Hypertensive Pregnancy: A Longitudinal Study, which was concerned with the forces generated by the heart and the motion of blood through the cardiovascular system during a woman’s pregnancy.
An award-winning author, Dr. Samaan promotes the importance of preventive heart care and how people can help themselves avoid heart problems through diet, exercise and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol. She frequently speaks to patient and professional groups on lipid disorders and other cardiac-related topics such as nutrition, hypertension and women and heart disease.
Dr. Samaan is a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians. She received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and her medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She served her residency in internal medicine at the University of California in Irvine and completed her fellowship in cardiology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
